GUWAHATI, Feb 8: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia were among the big losers from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as BJP rose to the occasion and, as predicted in exit polls, ended AAP’s 10-year reign in the national capital to register an emphatic comeback after a 27-year hiatus.

BJP’s Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, emerged as the giant slayer defeating Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat.

Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit came third.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also faced defeat in the Jangpura constituency with BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah winning by 594 votes.

AAP leader and present Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, however, won from her Kalkaji seat defeating Ramesh Bidhuri of the BJP.

The BJP, till the filing of this report, had either won or is leading in 47 seats in the 70-member assembly while the AAP could only muster 23 seats, down from it’s 2020 tally of 62 seats.
