Delhi Double Murder: Mother and Teen Son Brutally Stabbed in Lajpat Nagar

PUBLISHED:

Delhi Double Murder: A shocking double murder has left residents of Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar in deep shock and sadness. A 42-year-old woman named Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son Krish were found brutally stabbed to death inside their apartment on Wednesday, July 2. The incident has sent waves of fear across the area.

The tragedy came to light when Ruchika’s husband, Kuldeep Sewani, returned home in the evening and found bloodstains on the staircase and outside the house. When his repeated calls to his wife and son went unanswered, he immediately alerted the police at 9:43 PM. The police team, along with local officers, rushed to the spot and had to force open the door. Inside the flat, they found Ruchika’s body in the bedroom and Krish’s body in the washroom. Both had multiple stab wounds, and the scene inside was deeply disturbing.

Ruchika was a businesswoman who ran a garment shop in the Lajpat Nagar market with her husband. Their son Krish was a Class 10 student. The family lived a quiet life, and this brutal incident has left everyone around them stunned.

Soon after the police launched an investigation, they made a major breakthrough. They caught a 24-year-old man named Mukesh, who was trying to flee. He is a native of Hajipur in Bihar and had been living in Amar Colony. He worked as a driver and shop assistant at the Sewanis’ garment shop. Police sources say Mukesh is the main suspect and that he had a role in the double murder. The domestic help, who had earlier worked for the family, was also picked up from Noida and is being questioned.

Early signs point towards a possible betrayal by someone the family trusted. The motive, however, is still under investigation. Police are now closely looking into every angle, including personal disputes, robbery, or revenge.

In a completely separate case, the body of an unidentified young man, around 20 years old, was found near the Haiderpur water treatment plant in outer north Delhi. His body had multiple stab wounds and signs of strangulation. Police found the body lying naked near the Munak Canal on Tuesday afternoon. Investigations are also on in this case.

Both these back-to-back incidents highlight the growing concern over safety and rising crime in the city. For now, residents of Lajpat Nagar are praying for justice for Ruchika and Krish, and hoping such a terrible crime never repeats in their neighbourhood.
