Deepak Kumar will be the new Commissioner of Police of Guwahati and takes over from Pradip Saloi who retires today (Dec 31).
Deepak Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1994 batch, will become the fifth Police Commissioner of Guwahati after the capital city was brought under the jurisdiction of a police commissionerate.

Kumar had also been on deputation as Inspector General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and was released after he completed a 47-week course at the National Defence College in 2017.
