Actor and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rang in her 47th birthday on Sunday.
The actor won the Miss World pageant in 1994 following which the Bollywood diva made her debut with ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’ in 1997.
She is often cited as ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’.
Born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, Aishwarya’s father Krishna Raj was a biologist while his mother Vrinda was a housewife. During her childhood, Aishwarya was more interested in making her career in medicine field but fate had a different path laid out for her. She went on to make a place for herself in the entertainment industry.
Till now, Aishwarya has mesmerised her fans with her captivating presence in more than 30 Hindi films. However, out of these films, only 8 turned out to be a blockbuster and super hit including Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dhoom 2, Taal, Mohabbatein, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. A total of 7 of her films turned out to be disasters and she has 11 flop films on her name. Moreover, her first two films failed to make a mark at the box office.

Reportedly, Aishwarya Rai charges Rs 10-12 crore for a film. The major chunk of her income, which is around Rs 80-90 crore, comes from brand endorsements.
In 2007, she married fellow actor Abhishek Bachchan soon after their movie ‘Guru’ witnessed the success.
Four years later, the couple had their first child Aaradhya Bachchan.
