Two girls from Assam’s Jorhat town have set examples of parental care by donating their organs to save their father’s life. Krishnakhi Das and Prerona Das, hailing from Sonali Jayanti Nagar area of the town, donated their kidney and liver to their father Debojit Das, a police officer, who has been battling multiple organ failure for the last few years.
After doctors treating the ailing cop told his family members that he would be needing organ transplantation, his daughters Krishnakhi and Prerona decided to donate part of their liver and kidneys without even thinking about their own lives.
While Krishnakhi donated part of her liver, doctors transplanted one of Prerona’s kidneys on their ailing father. Debojit Das and his two daughters were successfully operated upon at New Delhi’s Apollo Hospitals where they are presently recuperating and are under observation of doctors.
After their story became the subject of discussion in the social media, Krishnakhi and Prerona have been praised by people for taking such a very big step to save their father’s life. Incidentally the two girls have been taking care of their father ever since he fell ill and had to even sell their house and other property to meet medical expenses.
