Bihar Police have rescued a 10-member dance troup hailing from Assam after they were intimated by Guwahati Police about them being taken to some interior place of that State, apparently against their wishes.
The group comprising female dancers, including a younf college student, had gone to Siliguri for some performance. However, they were not allowed to perform in the North Bengal town and were instead taken to nearby Bihar.
Reports say that the dancers were asked to perform on Bhojpuri songs which they refused leading to an altercation with the organizers.
One of the members of the group, a higher-secondary second year girl student of Narangi Anchalik Mahavidyalay, intimated her friends as well as college authorities following which a complaint was lodged with Noonmati Police.
“A 10-member group of dancers comprising Dipika Gogoi, a HS 2nd year student of our College, had gone to Siliguri for some performance. But they were taken to some interior place in Bihar. Dipika contacted us and we lodged a complaint with Noonmati Police. They then contacted their counterparts in Bihar. The troupe, we have now been informed, has been rescued,” Minu Das, a faculty member of Narangi Anchalik Mahavidyalay, said.
A police team from Guwahati has already left for Bihar to bring them back to Guwahati.
