GUWAHATI, Oct 25: The severe cyclonic storm Dana has made landfall on the Odisha coast between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak leading to heavy rain and strong winds. Winds of around 110 kmph speed lashed coastal areas as evacuations in both Odisha and West Bengal continue.
“The landfall process would continue for the next 1-2 hours,” the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in an update around 8:30 today morning.
Reports of winds uprooting trees and electricity poles have come from several places in coastal Odisha and West Bengal.
Several lakhs of people have been evacuated, more than 400 trains cancelled while many flights have also been as authorities braced for the impact of the severe cyclonic storm.
