COVID19: CRPF trooper, 13th from Assam, tests positive in New Delhi

GUWAHATI: Another person from Assam, a CRPF trooper of the 31st Battalion, has tested positive for COVID-19 in New Delhi.

Azahar Ali of Govardhan locality’s Goria Basti village in Baksa district tested positive today.

He becomes the 13th person from Assam – ten CRPF jawans and three cancer patients – to test positive for COVID-19 in the national capital so far.

Incidentally, CRPF sub-inspector Md Ikram Hussain from Barpeta district – who was among the first to test positive – had died at Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, after the three cancer patients tested positive in New Delhi, as many as 202 cancer patients in Mumbai were on Thursday screened as a precautionary measure following an initiative taken up by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
