GUWAHATI: The Assam government has received a total of 9600 COVID19 rapid testing kits from the Government of India.
Assam will begin rapid testing using these kits. The rapid testing kit can detect COVID-19 positive patients as well as detect if any person was previously affected by the virus.
“This special kit can detect the virus in a person’s body within 15 minutes. There are two kits, IGM and IGG. The IGM kit can detect if a person is currently affected by Coronavirus disease and the IGGkit can detect if the person was previously affected by the virus. This information is provided by ICMR,” said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In Guwahati, 50 tests will be done at Spanish Garden, 25 at Athgaon Kabristan and 250 random tests will be conducted at Lahorighat in Morigaon district.
Left out kits will be distributed to Medical Colleges and Civil Hospitals across the state said the health minister. Hospitals will use the kits from 24 April to test those who are suspected for Coronavirus.
