GUWAHATI: Around 350 people who have been stuck due to lockdown in Assam will travel to Rajasthan on Wednesday. These people are from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and other places in Rajasthan and have been stuck in various places in Assam due to the lockdown. Under the initiative of Northeast Marwari Federation these stranded people will travel to their native places. The stranded people will be taken in 18 buses to Rajasthan.

These 18 buses had brought the Kota students of Assam a few days back and were supposed to go back without passengers. A joint effort by the Rajasthan and Assam government has facilitated this special transfer of these stranded people from Rajasthan.

These people are being brought from different places of Assam to Sonaram High School Field near Bharalumukh Police Station.

All COVID19 protocol including social distancing, use of masks have been followed while bringing them to Guwahati for further transport.

The Northeast Marwari federation will take care of the essential needs and food of these people.

“We thank the Assam government for bringing the students of Assam from Kota, Rajasthan. When we came to know that the buses are going back without any passengers we thought of sending back people who were from Rajasthan and were stranded in Assam. We contacted the the administration who directed us to approach the Rajasthan government. When we approached the Rajasthan government they cooperated along with Assam government. This could be completed only due to the cooperation of both the state governments and now these 350 people will travel back to their home state,” said an office bearer of Northeast Marwari Federation.
