GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 1213 COVID19 positive cases on Sunday. Though the positivity rate is coming down in most of the 34 districts, five districts are still in the danger zone. The administrative districts of Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar and Dibrugarh are witnessing increasing caseloads.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has indicated strict measures for these districts in the new SOP likely to be released on Monday evening.
On Saturday, Golaghat and Jorhat reported 600 COVID19 positive cases of the total 2300 cases reported from Assam. Similarly, the situation has not improved in Lakhimpur, Sivasagar and Dibrugarh. The chief minister stated that if the positive case numbers come down in these districts, the COVID19 positive numbers will come down to around 1400-1500 cases in Assam.
It is likely that the new SOP is going to be stricter to control and contain the COVID19 spread.
