GUWAHATI: In order to detect COVID-19 at the early stage, nose and throat swabs to be collected from now onwards in Assam. Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Saturday, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that nose and throat swab tests will be done to detect the COVID-19 positive cases at an early stage.
Earlier, only throat swabs were collected to test COVID-19. It is expected that the new move will bolster the state government’s fight against COVID-19.
Sarma also stated that in many cases in Assam COVID-19 detected after 14 days. Therefore, family members who come into close contact with the patient will be kept under quarantine for 14 days.
