GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been working day and night on war footing to defeat COVID-19 in the state. On Saturday, minister Sarma visited Chapar in western Assam’s Dhubri district to review the necessary arrangements for COVID-19 detection and treatment. Sarma also interacted with the doctors.
So far Dhubri district has reported 5 COVID-19 cases. On the other hand, random testing will be conducted in three locations—Dhubri, Bilasipara and Chapar on Sunday.
The health minister also inspected quarantine centre at Borkonda and checked an under construction quarantine centre for 700 people at Assam-West Bengal border. Dr. Sarma was accompanied by minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika, Assam tourism minister Chandan Brahma and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary.
