Guwahati: The entire country is currently fighting the second wave of Coronavirus. Cases of corona are increasing day by day. Lockdown has been imposed in most states.
Now as per sources due to Corona, Delhi Capitals star bowler R Ashwin has withdrawn himself from the 14th season of IPL (IPL 2021).
The Delhi Capitals off-spinner became the first Indian cricketer to withdraw from the IPL.
According to sources, several members of Ashwin’s family are affected by COVID-19 and in order to support them the cricketer had made decision to quit the season.
Ashwin has also changed the name of his Twitter profile. He has changed his name into “Stay home stay safe! Take your vaccine”
Taking to his Twitter Ashwin wrote, “I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals“
