COVID-19 cases likely to come down in Assam after 20 days

GUWAHATI: Though the number of COVID-19 cases in Assam is galloping following the return of a large number of people from other States, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday expressed hope that situation would become normal within next 20 days.

Talking to media persons Dr. Sarma said that the number of people returning to Assam will decrease from June 10 to 15. If the situation of next 20 days will remain under control, the number of COVID-19 cases will come down.

He stated that around 1 lakh people have already returned to Assam. Another one lakh people are likely to come in next few days.

Dr. Sarma insisted on strict quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to the community.
