Guwahati: Assam reported nine cases of the new COVID variant, Omicron in the last 24 hours, out of which three have recovered from the disease stated Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dr. Abhijit Sarma.
On the contrary six other persons are currently undergoing treatment. All of these people are from Dibrugarh district.
On the other hand another patient named Altaf Hussain was undergoing treatment at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). He has recovered now and tested negative for the Omicron variant.
Meanwhile the Saudi Arabia returnee Mamood Hussain and Rohan Das has also been tested negative for the disease.
With this, the total number of Omicron cases rose to 9 the state, out of which 6 cases are still active.
Dr. Sarma also stated that Chandmari, Rajgarh and Maligaon have been identified as COVID hotspot as the COVID cases in these areas are increasing rapidly.
Meanwhile, Assam on Thursday reported 844 new COVID-19 positive cases.
Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (369), Jorhat (57), Kamrup Rural (52) and Darrang (50).
The new cases were detected out of 35,562 tests that were conducted during the day.
The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 2.37% per cent on Thursday.
Meanwhile, two new COVID-19 related death were reported in the state during the day.
