Guwahati: Doctors, nurses and other medical staff and health workers of Assam health department will visit 25000 villages across the state to check for COVID-19 patients. As the symptoms of a normal seasonal fever and COVID-19 are almost the same, the state government is not taking any chances.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Thursday, Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that people suffering from seasonal fever in the villages must undergo COVID-19 sample testing to find out if he or she is affected with COVID-19 or not.
Dr. Sarma further added within a span of one month the medical staff will visit around 25000 thousand villages in Assam and conduct the tests. This initiative has been taken in view to control the spread of the virus in the state.
Meanwhile, all the home quarantine patients will be monitored by the Asha workers and MPW.
Dr. Sarma also urged the home quarantined people to be at home and if anyone is seen not maintaining the protocol of home quarantine locals residents should protest against such behaviour and report it to the authorities.
