GUWAHATI: Amid sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, Assam government will issue a new set of guidelines tomorrow. Chief secretary Jishnu Barua and Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta will share the details of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) at a press meet on Tuesday.
On Monday, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma had a meeting with senior officials to discuss the future roadmap in view of the COVID-19 situation.
“Chief secretary and DGP will announce all the important details tomorrow at a press meet. Today, we have prepared future roadmap to deal with the situation,” said Sonowal after the meeting.
When asked about the possibility of lockdown in the state, the chief minister said, “So far, no such situation has arisen. If infection increases, we will have to take such step to save the public. But, we don’t want to go such extent.”
The chief minister urged everyone to wear masks and follow other precautions.
