COVID-19: Assam Govt ready with 150 ICUs in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said there are total 150 Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the city of Guwahati to deal with COVID-19 situation. The number will be increased further.

“As of today, GMCH has capacity of 92 ICUs. In addition to GMCH, there are 24 and 38 ICUs at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury (MMC) and Kalapahar hospitals respectively,” Sarma said.

He stated 52 patients have been undergoing treatment in the ICUs against the total capacity of 150 beds in Guwahati.

“It means there are 100 ICU beds lying vacant. ICU expansion works are also going at Silchar and Jorhat medical colleges,” Sarma added.
