COVID-19: 22 detained in Assam’s Hojai for not wearing mask


GUWAHATI: As the government has made masks compulsory for all those stepping outside amid COVID-19 outbreak, Hojai Police in Assam detained 22 people for not wearing mask on Thursday. A team of police led by Hojai additional superintendent of police Suman Chakraborty detained the people from Doboka area as they were found without wearing a face mask.

Later police released them and provided a mask to each one of them. Assam has so far reported 35 COVID-19 positive cases with one new case from Bilasipara area in Dhubri district on Thursday. Among them 19 have been discharged from the hospitals and one died at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Currently, there are 15 active cases in the state.
