Court Sends Youth To 15 Days JC For Derogatory Remarks On PM Modi In Manipur

Guwahati: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has sent a 22-year old youth from Manipur to judicial custody for 15 days after he allegedly made a derogatory comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh’s Facebook post. The accused youth identified as Nongmaithem Boboy. The 22-year-old made a comment on CM Singh’s Facebook post where Singh was seen in a cleanliness drive carried out as part of PM Modi’s birthday celebrations across the BJP ruled states.

“Modi gi thi sengo yenge (Clean the faeces of Modi and we’ll watch),” Boboy commented on CM Singh’s same very post. After he made this comment, on September 19, Lamphel Police arrested Boboy who is a resident of takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai. The police registered a case against him under Sections 505(2-b) IPC to 505 (2) IPC or intent to create enmity, hatred or ill will between different religions, racial, language or regional groups or caste or communities as per reports.
