GUWAHATI, Dec 1: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has faced severe censure from the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division), Kamrup Metro, Guwahati, which debarred him from making any fresh statements against Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd. CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma over his false allegation that Pride East group had received a subsidy of Rs 10 crore from the central government.

The court was hearing the Rs 10 crore defamation case subsequently filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma against the Congress MP after he, on September 12, 2023, made a series of false allegations claiming that Pride East received the Rs 10 crore subsidy from the central government.

The court instructed Gaurav Gogoi to not make any such statements against Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, signalling that the Congress MP’s allegations were not based on truth.

The Pride East CMD had also strongly refuted the allegations and said that Pride East Entertainments was just eligible for government-sponsored programmes and incentives as other entities were but had neither applied nor received any subsidy from the Central Government.
