GUWAHATI: Cotton University in Guwahati today announced the launch of its new BA in Liberal Arts programme. In addition to its traditional three-year Bachelor’s degree programme, the new programme will begin in the next academic session with 50 intake capacity. This programme is designed in line with the latest draft National Education Policy (2019) which emphasizes Liberal Arts as the futuristic substitute for existing traditional BA programmes in most Higher Education Institutions in India.
Talking about the new BA programme, Prof. Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Vice Chancellor of Cotton University said, “This new three-year BA programme is first of its kind in Assam and Northeast India. I have a strong feeling that in the coming future, Liberal Arts as an academic programme will be in high demand. With the introduction of the new programme, Cotton University envisions itself as a pioneering National Educational Institute that offers Liberal Arts under a public education system, in accordance with the norms and regulations of the UGC.”
The new B.A. in Liberal Arts programme will offer students an opportunity to study a broad range of subjects while developing specialized knowledge in their major discipline.
