Corruption crackdown continues; Darrang Asst. Registrar of Cooperative Societies arrested taking Rs 10,000 bribe

GUWAHATI, Dec 3: The crackdown on corruption in government offices by the Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma State government continues with the Vigilance and Anti-corruption wing of Assam Police arresting Paresh Kumar Sahu, Asstant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Darrang, after he was caught red handed accepting bribe from a complaint.

Sahu was reportedly caught red-handed accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from the complainant in connection with registration of a society.

Police said procedural legal formalities were being taken up after the officer’s arrest.

The Himnata Biswa Sarma government has since taking over charge on May 10, 2021, launched a crackdown on corrupt officers and have even not spared men in khaki, many of whom are currently behind bars on corruption charges.
