GUWAHATI: Amid Coronavirus scare, the operation theatre of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta has been sealed off for 24 hours by the medical college authority. A doctor couple who had returned from Saudi Arabia has also been kept in isolation.
According to reports, the doctor couple returned from Saudi Arabia on March 9. They joined their duties on March 11 and performed several surgeries in the hospital. However, they did not inform the authorities about their travel history. When the authorities came to know about it, they sealed off the operation theatre for 24 hours.
“The couple has been kept in isolation at their homes for 14 days,” said Dr. Dhrubajyoti Borah, principal of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital.
“They are in home quarantine for 14 days. They will be under active surveillance for 14 days. We will take appropriate steps if we find any symptom,” said an official of the medical college.
