Coronavirus-positive kid blows kisses to nurses in Chandigarh hospital

PUBLISHED:

Chandigarh: A video of a 15-month-old girl who was tested positive for the novel coronavirus is going viral. The little girl, who is admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh can be seen giving flying kisses and shaking hands with a nursing officer.

Narendra Tyagi, the nursing officer, who can be seen with the girl in the video told India Today Television that this clip was shot on May 4 at 11.30 pm. He was on the night shift that day. If you see the video carefully, you will be able to hear the voice of the girl’s mother. She was tested negative.

The baby girl adorably shows the way she blinks her eyes when her mother asks her to do so for the video. She also gives a flying kiss when the nursing officer says so. She shakes hands and even touches her ear to say sorry when the people in the room tell her to.

The reason for the video going viral was that the nursing officer was seen standing very close to the girl. Normally, the hospital staff maintains distance between them and the Covid-19 patients as the novel virus can be transmitted with a mere touch. But in this video, the nursing officer is not only standing close to the toddler but also shaking hands with her.

“This baby girl is very active and is asymptomatic. At that time she was not sleeping and was playing. It was around 11.30 pm when I found her standing on the bed. Her mother was also around. I could not stop myself as she is very small and pretty, ” says Narendra Tyagi who is currently posted at the Covid-19 ward of PGI Chandigarh.
