GUWAHATI: Assam minister Pijush Hazarika today charged the Congress party and Nagaon MP and former state industry minister Pradyut Bordoloi of destroying both the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills in Assam. As the court order looms large to vacate the premises there has been some protest in taking the compensation provided by Assam government.
“I can’t talk above the courts, Pradyut Bordoloi can. We have not asked the employees of the paper mills to vacate the premises. It is by the order of the court. Almost 95% of the people have welcomed the decision of compensation but there are 5% people who are still resisting and protesting. These people are influenced by the Congress and creating problems for others. They want this problem to continue. It was during the tenure of Pradyut Bordoloi as Assam’s industry minister that the paper mills purchased coal and bamboo at higher rates. The Congress was in power at both the state and centre at that time. It is the Congress and Pradyut Bordoloi who are responsible for the destruction of both the paper mills,” Minister Pijush Hazarika said.
