Congress not a factor in Thowra: Dhaijya Konwar

GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal candidate for Thowra Vidhan Sabha seat, Dhaijya Konwar has claimed that the Congress is not a factor in the by-polls. Speaking to the media, Konwar said that Raijor Dal will defeat the BJP to become the winner. The Thowra seat was vacated after the resignation of Congress MLA Sushanta Borgohain who is now the BJP’s candidate.

“The Congress party is not a factor here, so we are not going to talk much about them. Their candidate is not in touch with the people and the voters. His statements show that he has no knowledge of the ground realities. We will see who will get how many votes. I request Manoranjan Konwar to wait till 2nd November when Raijor Dal will defeat the BJP and win the Thowra seat. This is the wave at the moment here among the voters. For a developed constituency the people are committed and will support us,” said the Raijor Dal candidate.

In the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, Sushanta had defeated BJP candidate Kushal Duwori.

In Assam, the by-polls will be held on 20 October for five seats: Thowra, Mariani, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, and Gossaigaon.
