Congress is nothing but a deflated balloon: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Nulling the influence of the Congress party, senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the grand old party is no more of any relevance. Addressing a public meeting in Sadiya, Dr. Sarma said, “There is no Congress government anymore in the Northeast, so voting for Congress now would be a loss. Congress is nothing but a deflated balloon.”

Taking a jibe at former Sadiya MLA, Jagadish Bhuyan, Dr. Sarma said, “The way Cuckoo bird comes only in the month of Bohag, Jagadish Bhuyan can only be seen at the time of elections. And if this scenario continues there is no hope for any kind of development in Sadiya.”

Commenting on the partnership between Congress and AIUDF in Assam, the senior BJP leader said that these parties will harm the state and the BJP will stop them at any cost.

“New political parties are considering forming a government with Badruddin Ajmal. They are not thinking about the indigenous people of the state. The situation in Assam is such that the Congress and the AIUDF want to set up a Miyan Museum, to bring in the Arabic language, just as the Mughals came to Assam, so does Ajmal,” added Dr. Sarma.

“As long as there is a BJP government in Assam, there will be no Miyan Museum in Assam. We will not allow Ajmal and the Congress to succeed as long as we have the last drop of blood in our bodies. We the people of Assam don’t know to stay united and for this reason, we can even lose our motherland. We should always remember that for the unification of Assamese society, Lachit Borphukan fought with the Mughals and kept the Assam united,” said Dr. Sarma.

Citing on the alliance of Congress and AIDUF, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Congress has divided Assam and Ajmal has taken advantage of it and has already taken over 40 constituencies.

Assam Health, Education and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday was in Sadiya where he laid the foundation stone of Sister Nivedita Academic Block & Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Puthi Bharal at Vivekanand Kendra Vidyalaya. Dr. Sarma took part in the public meeting with the message of development through a two-day programme.
