Guwahati: Assam Health, Finance, Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday slammed the Congress government for their Assam Bachao’ campaign.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Sarma questioned the origin of the term ‘Assam Bachao’ and said that the term is definitely not of our mother tongue.
“In Assamese language ‘Axomok Bachao’ can be a term but ‘Assam Bachao’ cannot be an Assamese word. Where does that word come from? In this way, the Congress has shamelessly surrendered before Badruddin Ajmal and removed themselves from the hearts of the people of Assam,” said Dr. Sarma
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) launched a social media video contest as part of its manifesto building campaign called ‘Assam Bachao’.
APCC asked the citizens of Assam to make two minute videos about the biggest issues and problems Assam is facing today.
Reacting on Sushmita Dev, the All India Women’s Congress president and Barak’s Congress leader’s joining BJP Dr Sarma said that if she wants to come she can come but right now we haven’t had any word with her.
Dr. Sarma also said that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is camping in Assam and supervising the Congress’, will soon witness a BJP government in Chhattisgarh itself.
