Congress-AIUDF two sides of the same coin: Ranjit Kumar Dass

Guwahati:  Two days after the Election Commission of India announced elections for three Rajya Sabha seats from Assam, hectic lobbying has started in opposition to claim at least one out of the three seats as the BJP-led alliance is set to get two seats.

BJP state president Ranjit Kumar Dass on Thursday said that, BJP which heads the three-party ruling alliance will share one of the two confirmed seats with Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

“We have decided to share one seat with BPF and keep one with us. And talking about the third seat, we have no role to play if the opposition parties are united. But, in case if they find a problem in putting up a candidate, we will have a responsibility. As of now, we are not thinking anything about the third seat,” said Ranjit Kumar Dass.

He also added that Congress and AIUDF are the “two sides of the same coin” so there is a probability of them joining hands to get the third seat.

“Nothing has been decided yet about who will contest for the Rajya Sabha seat from our party. The party will take the decision after having a discussion with National Committee and act accordingly,” said Ranjit Kumar Dass.
