Colombian presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay was on Saturday shot at during a campaign event in Bogota. News agency AFF reported that the 39-year-old right-wing opposition senator was shot three times — twice in the head and once in the knee.
The incident took place in a park in the Fontibon neighborhood of the capital where armed attackers shot Turbay from behind.
A video posted on ‘X’ showed Turbay being shot at while he was delivering a speech at a public rally in the Columbian capital.
A suspected gunman has been arrested.
No official update has been issued regarding his condition.
Uribe is the son of a journalist who was kidnapped and murdered in 1991.
The presidential elections in Colombia will be held on May 31 next year.
