GUWAHATI, Jan 20: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell conducted raids in Guwahati at the Jayanagar and Bhangagarh residences of Kokrajhar CDPO Surjya Baruah in connection with a case of disproportionate assets and recovered cash amounting to more than Rs 45 lakh besides seizing over 10 tollas of gold ornaments, bank passbooks, luxury cars and other documents.
The raids began at 6 am Monday morning with sources telling News Live that Rs 45.77 lakh unaccounted cash was recovered from Baruah’s residences besides gold ornaments, four luxury cars, a .32 pistol and several rounds of live ammunition.
The raids continued for several hours leading to the seizure.
