Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal on Saturday paid tribute to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 73rd death anniversary, stating that his eternal teachings and ideals continue to motivate millions for the upliftment of every section of the society.
Taking to his Twitter CM Sonowal wrote, “On #MartyrsDay, I pay my solemn tributes to ‘Father of the Nation’ #MahatmaGandhi. Let Bapu’s eternal teachings and ideals guide us to work unabated for the upliftment of every section of the society.”

Meanwhile, Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Assam Education, Health and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “आजीवन सत्य और अहिंसा के मार्ग पर चले राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी जी की पुण्यतिथि पर शत्-शत् नमन। महान वैज्ञानिक अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन ने लिखा था, ‘आने वाली नस्लें शायद मुश्किल से विश्वास करेंगी कि हाड़-मांस से बना कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति भी धरती पर चलता-फिरता था।’ #MahatmaGandhi #MartyrsDay”

In India, five days are declared as Martyrs Day to honour those who laid down their lives for the country. Of these, the first day is January 30, when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948.
