The Government of Assam has taken up the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan to encourage women entrepreneurs in Assam
GUWAHATI, April 1: Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today (April 1) launched the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan scheme, the biggest women entrepreneurship support initiative undertaken by the Government of Assam, at a programme in Behali in Assam’s Biswanath district.
Under the scheme, Rs 10,000 in seed capital will be provided to women self-help groups in the first year with 30 lakh women estimated to benefit from the initiative.
While Rs 10,000 will be provided as seed capital in the first year, those who use the amount meaningfully would each be provided Rs 25,000 — Rs 12,500 loan & Rs 12,500 government support — in the second year.
Further, upon meaningful utilisation of the second trance, every beneficiary would be entitled to receiving Rs 50,000 each in the third stage.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma said the government aims to catalyse micro level entrepreneurship in Assam through the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan scheme.
Along with launching the scheme which he said will boost self employment opportunities, particularly benefiting women, Chief Minister Dr Sarma also announced a special scheme for his bhagins studying in Class 10.
The Government, CM Dr Sarma announced, will soon credit Rs 300 every month for 6 months to matriculation candidates from poor families so that they can take tuitions and perform better in their examinations.
He also announced that from today (April 1), paddy farmers will get Rs 2,550 per quintal for their produce while mustard farmers will be given Rs 6,450 per quintal for their produce which, he said, would significantly boost their income.
