CM reviews status of BTR Accord implementation

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday chaired a meeting in Guwahati to review the implementation of the historic Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord.

The meeting was attended by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro, minister for welfare of plain tribes and backward classes Urkhao Gwra Brahma, chief secretary Jishnu Barua and several senior state government officials.

The chief minister asked to design training modules for skill development of cadres of all the factions of NDFB.

He also directed for a rehabilitation programme for 4,036 NDFB cadres involving Rs 160 crore.

Expedition of works for a cultural complex cum centre of excellence was also discussed in the meeting.

“The meeting discussed ways & means for empowering BTR and put forward several directives: Promote & build social empowerment narrative around Bodofa Upendranath Brahma’s philosophy for Bodo people Reconstitution & renaming of WPTBC as BTC Affairs dept (for BTR)” stated chief minister office in a tweet.
