Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held an all party meeting in Guwahati Sunday afternoon ahead of the publication of the final NRC draft. The much anticipated NRC draft will be published tomorrow.

Earlier, the Assam CM has urged the people not to panic if any of their names are not included in the draft as they would be given ample opportunity to file claim and objection after the publication of the draft.
The first NRC draft which was published on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1, included 1.9 crore citizens. The NRC of 1951 is being updated in Assam under the monitoring of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up across the State to maintain law and order, with District Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police being directed to maintain a strict vigil. Vulnerable areas have been identified by SPs in their respective districts and the situation is closely monitored to prevent any untoward incident.
A citizen can find out his or her name in the NRC draft through online, dialing toll free number, sms service and at NRC Seva Kendras. For online checking, one can visit www.nrcassam.nic.in and www.assam.gov.in. For within Assam, one can dial toll free no 15107 and for rest of the country the number is 18003453762.
