Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday held a political-level meeting with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to discuss various party affairs of the pre-poll alliance matters. Rio was accompanied by G Kaito Aye, Jacob Zhimoni & H Haying.
Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Held a meeting with Hon’ble CM of Nagaland Shri @Neiphiu_Rio along with his Cabinet colleagues G Kaito Aye, Jacob Zhimoni & H Haying. Discussed several issues of mutual interest between the two states. Besides, we also discussed various political matters concerning our alliance.”

Earlier on July 31, The Chief Secretaries of Assam and Nagaland on signed an agreement to de-escalate the tense situation prevailing at two locations in the Dessoi valley forest/ Tsurangkong valley by simultaneously withdrawing security forces within the next 24 hours.
Both sides agreed that in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the areas around Ao Senden village and Vikuto village as they are known in Nagaland and called as Jankhona Nala / Nagajankha and Compartment No. 12 respectively in Assam, urgent and effective steps are required for defusing the standoff between the security forces of Nagaland and Assam.
