CM Himanta Biswa Sarma meets abducted ONGC employee Ritul Saikia’s family

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday met the family of ONGC employee Ritul Saikia who was abducted by ULFA (I) militants from Lakwa in Sivasagar district on April 21 midnight.

CM Sarma along with Rajya Sabha member Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Lok Sabha MPs Pallab Lochan Das and Topon Kumar Gogoi met the wife and parents of the abducted employee at their residence at Titabor in Jorhat district. The scene of Sarma cuddling Ritul’s toddler melted everyone’s heart present there.

He assured the family about government’s consistent efforts to rescue the abducted employee.

we visited abducted Ritul Saikia’s house at Titabar, Jorhat to meet and assure the family that the Govt is firmly behind them in these trying times, and we are doing best to rescue Saikia at the earliest,” Sarma tweeted.

Saikia and two other employees of the ONGC was abducted by United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militants on April 21. The security forces rescued two of the abducted employees — Junior technician Mohini Mohan Gogoi and junior engineering assistant Alakesh Saikia — after a gunfight with their abductors near Totokchingnyu village in Nagaland’s Mon district on April 23 night. However, mystery shrouded over the fate of the third employee — Ritul Saikia.
