Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Tuesday dedicated the national flag perched atop a 319.5-foot-tall pole, the third tallest in the country, to the people at a function at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Chief Minister Sonowal also attended a special function and offered his tributes to the Father of the Nation on his 150th birth anniversary.
The flag was ceremonially hoisted by Chief Minister Sonowal in the presence of several of his ministerial colleagues, including Chandra Mohan Patowary, Naba Kumar Doley, DGP Kuladhar Saikia, among others.
Chief minister Sonowal tweeted: “Proud to dedicate India’s tallest National Flag (from avg city height) to the people at Gandhi Mandap, Guwahati on the occasion of #GandhiJayanti”

The project was undertaken by the Smart City Mission of Guwahati in collaboration with GMDA, Tata Engineering and Bajaj Electricals. The Industry and Commerce department had executed the final project.
