GUWAHATI, Jan 10: Delhi Police have detained a Class 12 student of a private school for sending fake bomb threat mails to various schools, reports quoting police said today.

The detained student, police said, sent fake bomb threat emails to 23 schools to skip his exams.

NDTV reported that the detained student sent bomb threat mails at least six times, and added that each time he marked different schools except his own.

He always tagged multiple schools on the mail to avoid suspicion, NDTV further reported quoting officials, and added that he once sent a mail to 23 schools.

The Indian Express, meanwhile, reported that he could be part of a group involving at least three more students, stating that police are verifying the evidence with help from forensic experts before taking action against them as well.

Delhi schools have been receiving bomb threat mails on various occasions although all of them later turned out to be hoax.

The threat mails used to trigger panic as schools would dismiss classes for the day while police and other agencies would launch multi-agency investigations amid the threat emails.
