Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa to get new govt model colleges

Guwahati:  Assam Education, Health, and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today laid the foundation stone of the Government Model College to be set up at Koila Moila in Chirang District under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Talking to media persons, Dr. Sarma said, “Earlier there was a government college at Kokrajhar. Now the government has decided to set up three government model colleges simultaneously in Udalguri, Baksa and Chirag districts.  From tomorrow, the construction work of Model College at Koila Moila will begin. And this evening, we will also start the work for a government college at Tamulpur. In the next two days, we will also start the construction work of setting up a government college in Udaluguri.”

Sarma stated that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) have kept their promises made in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.

The model college at Koila Moila will be constructed with a cost of Rs. 14.07 crore. Along with minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro also attended the foundation laying ceremony.
