Guwahati: In what is being called one of the worst floods to have hit Assam has been ravaged by rising water levels. Around 40 lakh people in 27 of the state’s 33 districts have been impacted and around 76 people have lost their lives.
On Friday, London based Chelsea Football Club took to its social media handles to send across a strong message on Assam floods.
In two back to back social media posts each written in Assamese and English the football club wrote, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods in Assam.”
Earlier on Friday, England’s premier league football club Arsenal has expressed their solidarity with the people of Assam who are effected by the ongoing flood situation in Assam.
Arsenal F.C. shared a video in their official Instagram page in which the club states they stand with the people of Assam in this hour of crisis.
Chelsea and Arsenal’s messages which is meant to boost the spirit of the people of Assam, comes at an opportune time as Assam is fighting the dual challenges of coronavirus and the floods.
