Champions League: Real Madrid hammer Dortmund 5-2; Aston Villa beat Bologna 2-0 to go top of table

GUWAHATI, Oct 23: Spanish giants and reigning European champions Real Madrid came from two goals behind to defeat German club Borussia Dortmund 5-2 as VinĂcius JĂşnior scored a hat trick.

Donyell Malen’s opening goal in the 31st minute and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’s second helped Dortmund take a 2-0 lead. At the break, it appeared that the Germans would rub more salt in Real’s wounds after the defending champions lost to French club Lille earlier on Matchday 2.

But the Brazillian striker’s second-half hat-trick helped Real dispose off Dortmund in style. Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez were the other scorers for Real Madrid.

On the other hand, Aston Villa raced to the top of the table after three matches following their 2-0 victory over Bologna.

While John McGinn opened the scoring for the English club in the 55th minute, Jhon Duran netted the second in the 64th minute to ensure all three points.
