Centre increases LPG cylinder prices by Rs 50 after raising excise duty on petrol and diesel

The increase in LPG cylinder prices will be both for Ujjwala scheme and general users

GUWAHATI, April 7: The Centre has increased domestic LPG cylinder prices by Rs 50 per cylinder, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri announced today (April 7).

With the increase, price of a cylinder under Ujjwala scheme will increase from the present rate of Rs 500 to Rs 550 per cylinder while for general users, prices will shoot up from Rs 803 to Rs 853.

The hike in cooking gas cylinder prices comes after the government today increased excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre.

The government, however, said the excise duty hike will not impact retail prices with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry announcing that there won’t be any increase in retail prices of petrol and diesel despite the hike in excise duty.
