Breaking: Two brothers killed by villagers in Baksa


GUWAHATI: Two men—both brothers who were released from prison amid COVID-19 pandemic, have been killed by the villagers in Athiabari village under Simaluguri area in lower Assam’s Baksa district on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the villagers attacked the duo as they had unleashed a reign of terror in the village after their  release from the prison. The men identified as Biswajit Das and Haradhan Das were sent to jail after local people complanied about their atrocities on the villagers. However, they were released from the jail following a decision of the jail authorities to release some inmates as a measure against COVID-19.

After their release, Biswajit and Haradhan started a reign of terror in the village which led to the attack on them in the morning today. The angry villagers also set ablaze their house. Later fire and emergency services took the fire under control. Police has already started investigation into the incident.
