Breaking: Pradeep Kumar resigns as SLPRB, Assam chairman following SI recruitment scam

GUWAHATI: Pradeep Kumar, chairman of State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam has stepped down from his position after widespread outrage over anomalies in Assam Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitemnt written test.

Kumar resigned from the post taking moral responsibility of the question paper leak case which resulted in the postponement of the test.

On the other hand, two prime accused in the recruitment scam case—former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Prasanta Kumar Dutta and BJP leader Diban Deka are still on run.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has strictly asked the CID and Crime Branch to carry out a proper investigation.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Nalbari Police in lower Assam arrested five candidates who had appeared in the secret exam in the ‘Thank You’ lodge in Guwahati on a day before the actual written test.

The accused have been identified as Harkat Ali of Bhangnamari, Mukalmuwa, Sanjib Barman, Mridul Barman , Parth Pratim Pathak and one more person.
