GUWAHATI: Dr. Abhijit Sharma, superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Bhaskar Pegu, deputy commissioner (DC) of upper Assam’s Tinsukia district have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Dr. Sharma who has been recently appointed as the superintendent of the GMCH was part of the state’s fight against COVID-19 since its beginning. He was earlier serving as the additional superintendent of Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.
Tinsukia DC Bhaskar Pegu also led the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the district.
Earlier, several other bureaucrats of the state were also found positive for COVID-19.
