BREAKING: Former Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi joins BJP

GUWAHATI: Rupjyoti Kurmi who represented Assam Legislative Assembly four times consecutively from Mariani LAC of Jorhat district as a member of Indian National Congress(INC) and resigned recently from the party joined the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a programme held at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district on Monday.

While welcoming Rupjyoti Kurmi to the BJP on behalf of all the functionaries of the party, Chief Minister Sarma said that Kurmi’s joining the BJP will further strengthen the party. CM Sarma also conveyed his best wishes to him. He said that Kurmi has always been sincerely working for the development of Mariani LAC and hoped that he would continue working for the constituency with greater commitment.

Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Tea Tribes Welfare Minster Sanjay Kishan, MP Pradan Baruah, MLA and Political Secretary to the CM Jayanta Malla Baruah, MLAs Naba Kumar Doley and Manab Deka were also present in the program.
