GUWAHATI, Dec 1: Assam Police are continuing their vigil along the Indo-Bangla international border and have held five more Bangladeshi infiltrators, including two women, who were trying to cross over to Assam under the cover of darkness on Saturday night.
They were later pushed back to the neighbouring country.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma took to the social media to announce about the latest attempt by Bangladeshi infiltrators to enter India.
“5 more illegal infiltrators apprehended near the International border!
Maintaining their high state of alert, @assampolice nabbed 5 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and pushed them across,” Chief Minister Sarma stated on ‘X’, and identified the Bangladeshi infiltrators as Md Noor Islam, Md Imran, Yasmin Akhtar, Ishmo Tara Akhtar and Md Babul Hussain.
